Many ryokans pick you up from the station, often only at set times or after a phone call. Each inn page explains how it works there.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which ryokans in Hakone have a private onsen in every room?

Of the 14 inns on this page, 7 have a private bath in every room: Kinnotake Tonosawa, Hakone Yuyado Zen, Hakone Kyuan, Hatsuhana, Gora Hanaougi, Hakone Ginyu and Hakone Suishoen. At 6 more inns only some rooms have one (Yama no Chaya, Ryuguden, Yoshiike Ryokan, Matsuzakaya Honten, Senkyoro and Gora Kadan), so pick a room type with a bath when booking.

Which ryokans in Hakone are tattoo-friendly?

Tattoos are explicitly allowed at Yama no Chaya, Fukuzumiro and Gora Hanaougi. With conditions (size limit or cover sheets) at Yoshiike Ryokan and Gora Kadan. Kinnotake Tonosawa has no public bath, only private room baths. The exact rule is on each inn’s page, quoted in the inn’s own words where possible.

Which ryokans in Hakone have a view of Mt Fuji?

From every room, according to the inn: Ryuguden. From some rooms: Hakone Yuyado Zen. Whether Fuji is visible depends on the weather; no inn can guarantee it.

Where can I get vegetarian food at a ryokan in Hakone?

Vegetarian meals, usually with advance notice, are offered by Kinnotake Tonosawa, Ryuguden, Fukuzumiro and Gora Kadan. At the other inns it is either not stated or explicitly not possible because the broth contains fish.
